Wow, it’s getting so close to Christmas; I don’t know about you but this is the time of year where I really have to make a determined effort to keep my eyes on Christ, with being surrounded by so much commercialism and materialism. I don’t want to get caught up in the chaos and come out on the other side of Christmas exhausted and glad that it’s over for another year wondering where the money is going to come from to pay for over extravagance. What a great day we had…I just love the new Heartshapers curriculum that we are using for the kids. If you are a parent, know that there are daily devos in the little Kidz Chat magazine your kids bring home each week and that the Activities booklet will give you an opportunity to chat with your kids about what they learned in Calvary Kids. Today we learned about Joseph and how he forgave his brothers, loved his enemies and blessed those who persecuted him. Your kids are a blessing to teach! (more…)

Several of us gathered for prayer this morning which is something we do every Saturday at 8:00 am and have done for almost 3 years now. It was a time of fellowship and growing closer to God as we sought Him on behalf of the church. (more…)

We gathered for prayer this morning. Daryl led us in a brief devotion in Matthew 4:18 – 22 where Jesus calls the first of His disciples to leave what they’re doing and to, “Come, follow me!” Daryl asked the question, “How well did these men know Jesus? What did they know about Him?” Yet they stopped what they were doing and immediately followed Jesus. (more…)

Daryl, Paul and I went to Emmanuel Community Church to share the Hand Up to Hope ministry during their moring service; it was very well received and many people were interested in being plugged to to various aspects of the ministry…on the streets, preparing food and prayer ministry. (more…)

If you’re like me, during these last few days of 2010 you’re taking time to reflect upon the past year…..for me I reflect upon those times where the Lord has given me victory through trials, the strength to walk as he walked, forgiveness in those times that I fail and thanking him for the numerous blessings in my life. Merry Christmas. This is how our weekend went.

Friday night we had the final Youth Night of the year with games. The youth versus the parents. It was a battle and the parents prevailed althought the youth might have something to say about that. The games were all based on the TV program “Minute to Win It.” (more…)
